Apprentice Distiller - Old Trestle Distillery

Based in Truckee California, at the heart of the Sierra Nevada mountains, Old Trestle Distillery is looking for an Apprentice Distiller to help us deliver world class experiences. Old Trestle was founded in Truckee CA by friends with a real passion for great experiences and a belief that the world's best spirit has yet to be made. Our founding team has extensive backgrounds growing global companies and beverage brands and we are looking for a teammate to support our distillery operations. We are inspired by innovation and are laser-focused on bringing great products to market and being part of our customers’ lives at some of their most meaningful moments. REQUIREMENTS & RESPONSIBILITIES

​

  • Responsible for general cleanliness, sanitation, and presentability of distillery site.

  • Basic understanding of fermentation and/or distillation.

  • Strong ability to problem solve and work without immediate oversight.

  • Must possess good record keeping skills, and excellent communication.

  • Experience with machinery including (but not limited to) forklifts, pumps, air compressors, chillers is preferred but not required.

  • Ability to climb, kneel, stoop, and lift/move 55 lb frequently, with extended periods of standing/walking, and ability to work in outdoor weather conditions.

  • Expected to know or learn all processes for on-site- grain handling, milling, mashing, transferring of spirits, distillation, proofing/gauging of spirits, bottling, etc.

  • Compliance with all written SOP’s, verbal communications, and general safety requirements of the facility.

  • Comfortable and flexible in changing tasks ‘on a dime’ while on shift - we’re a growing distillery and things move quickly. As well as flexibility in schedule throughout a week.

  • Experience in the distilling, brewing, and related science fields.

  • Examples of professional and ideally personal passion and beliefs around spirits and how they should be made and delivered.
